The painting first appeared in Brighton Museum & Art Gallery’s ‘Sussex Open - Land and Sea Exhibition' in 1992, where it received an award for being voted most popular exhibit by the visiting public.

The scene shows an approximately 270° panoramic view looking towards the South Downs near Glynde, Lewes, between Firle Beacon and Mount Caburn.
